The transition from childhood to adulthood is a time of tremendous growth and change. Many young people tell me they have few places in their lives where they feel heard or understood. So many changes are happening that things can feel overwhelming or confusing.
A primary goal in therapy with youth is to provide a space for them to freely express their thoughts – including fears, hopes, and dreams – without judgment.
Common reasons youth seek counselling include:
-
Feeling lonely, unheard or misunderstood
-
Conflict with parents
-
Exploring gender identity and sexuality
-
Depression, anxiety and stress management
-
Feeling scared about the future (e.g., college, university, job prospects)
