Commitment to a Positive Space:
I have an ongoing commitment to be supportive and inclusive of cultural, gender, political, religious and sexual diversity.
When people ask me what model of therapy I use, or how I do my work as a therapist, this is what I tell them: studies have shown that the fit or connection between a therapist and client is more important than any one model of therapy in helping people make lasting changes in their lives. People tell me I’m warm, funny and non-judgmental.
I have extensive training in a variety of well-researched therapy models (including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). However, I tailor my approach to each unique individual, couple or family and often integrate play, art, and humor into sessions with children and their families. As a relationship therapist, my focus is always on the connections important to each individual, as I believe that “the heart of our existence is relationship” (Glen Cooper, Ph.D., 2013).
My areas of interest and expertise include:
Children’s social, emotional and cognitive development
Family relationships (especially with multi-stressed, complex histories)
